Alphonse here, again. I hope you enjoyed the tour of the farm that Pat gave you yesterday. It’s not giant, but it’s full of giant ideas. Pat says that the more ways we can touch the public, the closer we’ll get to their heart and their action. Whether it’s beautiful woods, cute kids or wonderful soaps or even coloring books, she’s determined to bring the joy of the farm to as many people as she can.
As a goat, I don’t really care, as long as I’ve got my herd, and Pat feeds me. But if she’s going to keep feeding me, I guess she needs to pay for something. That means other people have to pay for something, because I haven’t seen anyone growing money around here. If I did, I’d probably eat it.
Pat is working on a big project right now that could really change the way people think about prizes. She’s always wanted the soaps to be gifts and prizes, as they are so rich in the joy of the farm and the milk. She’s now working on special soaps that are custom made. It’s taking a lot of time, but I think she’s almost there. I can’t wait to see if any of it is edible.
This weekend, Dave, the other farmer here, is heading to an event that supports vets
and their support dogs. I don’t know why vets need help with their dogs. Aren’t they dog doctors? Oh, Pat has explained to me that there’s a different type of vet, a veteran. Dogs make it possible for those who served in wars to deal with the noise and stress of regular life. Sometimes it’s a physical problem, but sometimes it’s one that we can’t see. Pat had a TBI ( whatever that is,) and while no one could see she had problems, it took her a LONG time to get over it. If it had been worse, she might never have gotten better.
I think there should be support goats, but I guess we’re serving that purpose. There is a shop here at the farm that is also a Respite. It’s called the Haven, and it’s there for people to just sit and enjoy the woods, or they can interact with some goats if they want to. It’s been a long termproject for the farmers, but they did it, and they want people to use it. The only way to support it, since they don’t charge anything, is to buy the soaps and the Fynniroos.
What is a Fynniroo? She was before my time, but there was a farm dog named Fynn. She was Pat’s heart dog, doing amazing things just for Pat. Fynn was afraid of sheep, but when Pat needed to load one up to a trailer, Fynn did it. She sat down facing away from the ewe, and used her butt to push Ellie into the trailer. She never would have done that for anyone else. She didn’t want to do it for Pat, but she did.For some reason Fynn thought that sheep could shock her, and I totally get why she didn’t want to get shocked.
Fynn was known as Fynniroo when she was a good girl. There were other names that she got called when she wasn’t good, but they aren’t cute so I won’t tell you what they were. Pat makes the Fynniroos to honor the connection people and their pets, their passions and even the planet. They are towels, totes and pillows that have pictures on them of those things. After all, if you use a soap, don’t you need a towel?Makes sense to me that she makes both.
We’ll it’s time for dinner, so that’s it for now.Have a wonderfulnight.Bye,
